Dubai: A Wonderland of Sand and Snow

From malls to skiing and desert oasis, Dubai is a culmination of everything cultural and touristy.

Golden, warm sun bathing your skin, soft sand beneath your feet, powdered snow and exquisite cuisine, Dubai is a place for travelers in search of the eclectic. From malls to skiing and desert oasis, to souks and the museum, Dubai is a culmination of everything cultural and touristy. If you happen to find yourself in this desert paradise, take notice of some of the following attractions.

Take a Desert Safari: Desert Safari is also known as Dune Bashing to Emiratis and is considered to be the biggest attraction.  Imagine driving to the sands in a 4WD where specialist drivers take you for a adrenaline pumping ride over tall sand dunes. This event is not complete without the barbecue, where lamb roasts and hubble bubble pipes are a must.

Ski Dubai: Attention shoppers!  What makes Dubai worth the trip are the malls. The Mall of the Emirates is enormous but what makes this mall quite unique is the indoor ski slope–the first indoor ski resort in the Middle East.  It offers artificial snow setting so you can thoroughly enjoy skiing, snowboarding and tobogganing or simply playing with snow or snowball fight. You can even enjoy a steaming cup of hot chocolate while you’re there.

Dubai Museum: Another place worth visiting is the Dubai Museum. It is located in Bur Dubai and is situated in the Al Sahidi Fort. This Fort was constructed in the late 18th century and back in the day it was a seat for the government. In those days it was also the ruler’s main residence. The restored fort now provides a mesmerizing perspective into Dubai’s glorious olden past. If you have a fetish for history then it is a perfect fix for your antiquated cravings.

Dubai Creek & Abra Cruise: Another way of looking at Dubai is through the waterworks. Take an Abra Cruise and experience the Dubai Creek.  This site is the very foundation from which Dubai grew into a popular port for trading. Even in today’s world some of the old shipping culture still remains. Even the visitors can view a relic of the past, some of the original buildings that have served as customs houses remain intact. The dinner cruise option is a favorite amongst the tourists.

Jumeirah Mosque: The grand Jumeirah Mosque rounds out your cultural experience. What is unique about this Mosque is that it is one of the few Mosques which are open to non-Muslims for tours. There is also a Cultural Centre designed to foster understanding between religions, which is a great step towards building peace and friendship.
